The Saraswati Veena has held a significant position in the lives of the people of the temple town of Thanjavur for centuries. This researchexplores the socio-cultural and economic significance as well as associated myths of the Saraswati Veena in Thanjavur. Shedding light on its making, this study explains each stage of the arduous, meticulous process that goes into creating the final structure. The study not only explores the mythological and historical origins, but also traces the evolution of the instrument from its conception till the present day.
