Narrating the tale of Naqal

Abstract

Description

The present study deals with an extensive exploration of the Punjabi folk form, ‘Naqal’ and the various changes in its state with respect to content, style and technique from the post colonial to contemporary times. It looks into aspects such as the extent of the changes in the art form and the inherent reasons for the same. The study also aims to examing of the usage of romantic and urban themes in Naqal performances around Punjab.
