Channapatna, one of the key locations for the craft of wooden toy making in India. The reports seeks to explore how the art developed and its evolution in contemporary times. The relation of Channapatna manufacturers with the demands of the market is also looked at, from a technological perspective. Further, it explores the initiatives of the government and other external organizations to preserve the craft. Places similar to Channapatna are also looked at, to analyse and compare the similarities and differences between the toy making processes in various parts of the country.
